Artist Statement:
My dad got this Hulk when he was in high school. He has kept it since then and it now lives on the dashboard in his old BMW convertible that he takes out every summer. It was very cool photographing the green Hulk because the morning I took all the photos it was raining. After it stopped raining it created the dark, wet, gloomy feel to each photograph. All the dark shadows made the Hulk look very real and a little scary, which I liked. I tried to incorporate those natural effects into the photos of the Hulk and the 8 others that I took. As well as how fun it was to photograph the Hulk it was also hard. Because the Hulk cannot stand on its own I had to try to hold on to the top of its head so it would not fall, but also keep my hand out of the photo. Overall, I think that the green Hulk represents memories to me. It reminds me of my dad, his childhood, and all the summers spent with the wind blowing through my hair in his convertible in Northern Michigan. |
